Summary
A vision for dental hygiene education has been created by key stakeholders of the profession: Pathways to Support the Oral Health of Canadians: The CDHA Dental Hygiene Education Agenda, and the articulation of entry-to-practice competencies. The competencies represent the required abilities for educational preparation of dental hygienists. In a parallel process, the regulators of dental hygiene have created national standards of practice that will influence dental hygiene practice. These documents have come together as the Entry-To-Practice Competencies and Standards for Canadian Dental Hygienists, January 2010
The focus of the webinar is to familiarize dental hygienists with the process used to develop the new competencies and standards and the action required for implementation. More information coming soon.

Linda Jamieson, RDH, DipDH, BA, MHS
Linda Jamieson has been involved in the education of dental hygienists for 20 years as a faculty member and program coordinator. Over the past 4 years Linda has been actively involved with dental hygienists across Canada in developing national competencies for entry-to-practice. In addition she has worked with the Federation of Dental Hygiene Educators on national practice standards. Currently she is one of three representatives on the Education Advisory Committee of the CDHA.

Heather Blondin
Heather Blondin is a dental hygiene graduate of Cambrian College and holds a BSc degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University. She has a combined 32 years of dental hygiene experience in clinical practice, education, and administration. Heather currently is serving on council with the College of Dental Hygienists’ of Ontario, and member of the CDHA Education Advisory Committee. She also continues to serve as a member of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada site visit teams for dental hygiene programs and the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board’s Examination writing team. Heather is currently on a professional development leave from her role as Coordinator of the Dental Health Programs at Cambrian College to study interprofessional education for health care professionals.
